02/14/02 - I have joined ABEbooks.com and have opened a store there. Currenntly I only have a few dozen books there but they are working on converting my 3,000+ new books to the site.

11/19/01 - Just added the History of the Super Z Ferrule .  An important piece of bamboo fly rod history.

11/03/01 - Yikes! I can't believe that I haven't updated this page in so long! Just added a great book review on our bible... A Masters Guide to Building a Bamboo Fly Rod by Everett Garrison and Hoagy Carmichael. The excellent review was written by Bill Harms. The newsletter subscribers list is over 725 members and still growing. Trying to add several new products for the upcoming Christmas season. I now stock ALL the bamboo rod making books and all the books pertaining to bamboo rod collecting. I also stock several hundred book titles for the fly fisherman and fly tyer. I have a limited supply of large spools of vintage silk thread.  Be sure to check them out.

12/21/00 - According to my web statistics, beginning 3/19/00 thru 12/18/00 we have had over 313,000 accesses and over 83,000 visitors. Amazing! Be sure you have signed up with my tackle newsletter, you might win a prize! Sent out a newsletter today and there are many special deals in it... If you sign up, you can look at the old newsletters and take advantage of the sales!

ATTENTION ROD MAKERS!!! I need several more rod makers to supply rods for me. I've been getting far more requests for rods than my current rod makers can supply. Please email me for more information.

11/23/00 - Now selling Joseph Perrigo rods! Chris McDowell is nearing completion on a Garrison 193 2/2 rod. Don't lose out on this fine rod!  AJ Thramers completion time is now about 6 months as he has a long waiting list at this time.

I also now sell Robert Venneri's fabulous reel seats. Also I have a great deal on snake guides, stripping guides and fly tops.

We are getting close to the #500th subscriber on my list who will win a new book about our bamboo rods. If you haven't subscribed yet, be sure to do so.

11/-9/00 - I'm pleased to announce that I am now a dealer for Peerless Fly Reels!  These are a superbly built reel with classic lines that are perfect for your bamboo fly rods... Both vintage and new custom bamboo rods! Here's the new page  *Peerless Fly Reels

11/06/00 - Just checked the web sites stats and since 3/19/00 we have had approximately 245,000 hits with nearly 67,000 visitors. Wow, that's so cool! I've decided to add some great info on Paul H. Young and his rods as well as some of the other classic rod makers. If anyone is interested in helping in this area, please give me a holler!

11/05/00 - Well, the new computer is here, but Pacbell still hasn't switched over my ISP yet. I'm going to be adding several handyman project rods for sale during the month of November so keep checking back if you are looking for some winter projects. I've also added a new silk thread color chart for the new silk threads that I sell. It loads slowly so be patient.

I've started a contest giveaway... for the 500th subscriber of my newsletter, you will win your choice of one of Sinclair's soft cover bamboo rod books. Choose from the Divine, Heddon or Rod Restoration Handbook. Or the Wes Jordan Book.  For the 1,000th subscriber, you will win a vintage bamboo fly rod of my choosing, valued between $100-$300. Currently we have around 400 subscribers so the first contest will not take too long to get a winner, hopefully. Rules - You must be a new subscriber and only one entry per person. You must provide your correct information. If you fail to abide by the rules, the prize will be awarded to the next subscriber, sorry.

Just got in a superb Paul H. Young,  Drigger River Rod 7'2" built by A.J. Thramer - This is one of the favorite rods by the custom rod makers. Also, a H.L. Leonard 50DF and a PH Young Parabolic 14 is under construction.

9/23/00 New Computer System Ordered - What does that have to do with you? Well, it should arrive around mid October (Compaq is building it for me) so if I'm incommuicado for several days, that might be the reason.  I can't take how slow my 233PII laptop is anymore. I have so many email accounts, passwords, etc. that when I transfer everything, no doubt there'll be some bugs and I won't be able to access my email or other such problems, so I thought I'd mention it now before I attempt to make the switch.

I still have a couple hundred rings left the the FIVE STAR in 1/2" and 1/4" rings. Email me and you'll get a great deal.

I started a new website  www.Travel-Getaways.com and I sell mini-vacation coupons. Check it out!  All automated orders for September and October will get one of these coupons free with a purchase of $50.00 or more. Vegas, Mexico, Reno, Tahoe, Atlantic City, Daytona Beach and more!

I also am building another website for a new 3,000 item product line of new gifts items, jewelery, toys, collectibles and household items. I have two catalogs, a condensed one and a huge one with my entire product line. I try to include one with every order. As a vFish.net devotee, you get a discount on every purchase! Tons of great Christmas gifts!

9/9/00 New Portugal Cork Info Page Added - This information page tells the story about how cork rings are produced and the grading of the cork. If you are interested in building bamboo rods, be sure to check out the Bishop Gathering 2000 page. We have Walton Powell who will be our featured guest speaker this year! The Human Click chat feature works GREAT! Wanna chat? Check it out...

The Scary Sharp page link has been corrected... it was missing in action for awhile.

8/23/00 Live Chat Added! MANY revisions and many on the way. Try out the live chat using the icon at left! This should make ordering questions a breeze! Also my many international friends can communicate with me in real time! I removed the community live chat as no one was using it and it was rather clunky.

The on-line store is running smoothly.  I deleted a few pages and cleaned up the navigation links somewhat. Next changes will be to delete most of the links below the online store as I work on finishing up the online store product inventory. I'm planning to terminate my association with Barnes & Noble as I've had an excellent working relationship with Amazon so I will continue to recommend them. I do appreciate everyone who uses the links on my site to do some of their online shopping as it helps defray the cost of this website and the maintenance.

5/14/00 ON-LINE E-Store LAUNCHED! FINALLY!!! - I'm pleased to finally get the store up and running. There's probably a few bugs and typos so please go easy on me if there are some glaring errors. There's very few pics and graphics at this time since they take a long time to do... I want to get the catalog inventory listed, then I'll go back and get pics. I have listed most of the rods from the only rod page and one or two that have not been listed, next week I'll work on adding more rods since that's what most people seem to want to see. Please email me with any bugs or problems you find. If you are a professional rodmaker, please send me an email as I am working to provide a professional discount for you. It will take a few weeks to implement that, but it'll get there eventually.

I've also managed to measure and add the Montague ferrules to the list for those patient folk that have been hounding me to measure them... For the Monty Collectors, I have 2 labeled Montague Ferrule boxes for sale at $25.00 each. Hey, lure boxes go for more than that and these are a lot more scarce! Also, listed a few silk fly lines.

5/5/00 Happy Cinco de Mayo! - Just added my silk thread chart. This chart is based on Sinclair's Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook Thread Color Chart. It is also my price list. I now have almost every color on the chart. If there is a discrepancy between prices of the chart and the silk rod thread page, you pay the lowest of the two (unless I made a typo). Silk Thread Chart Link

The live chat is now up and running. I'm often available, so if you'd like to chat, email me giving me a bit of advance notice and I'll try to join you if I can.

4/29/00 - Just checked my web stats and on 4/22 we hit a new record of 1,011 page views and 438 visitors that day! Fantastic! This is excellent considering that I haven't submitted this site to the 100+ search engines... I'm holding off until I can get the catalog on-line...

4/11/00 - Happy birthday to me today. Any orders placed today, will receive a free surprise gift with their order.  I just picked up a MINT WM Granger Favorite for sale. This is a GF9050. That means that it is a 9' 3/2 5 ounce trout rod. When I say mint, I mean it...printed  plastic on the grip, original label on tube, original bag. This is a stunning rod! $950 obo. I also have a Granger Victory 8.5' 3/2 that I will be grading and then will be selling. No price yet, but between $300-400. Sales of the 8.5' rods have skyrocketed and in excellent condition have sold for over $650.00. I also got in a few spools of Rice's jasper silk, 50 and 100 yard spools. O/B and B/W. Also a Monty Fishkill 8.5' 3/2 all full length with correct bag, non-original alum tube. Needs a couple of wraps, varnish needs polishing, $175.00.

3/31/00 - I can now accept Visa and MC credit cards. Still working on the catalog but it's a bit more time consuming than I was expecting.. Check out the new Barnes and Noble page for all your book and music needs. I now have Pearsalls orange/black SILK jasper thread! CHEAP!

3/21/00 Mid-Atlantic Rodmakers Gathering Pics Added - Lots on pics that need your help identifying the participants. Please email me at darrell@vfish.net to add info.

3/20/00 LAUNCHED!!! - OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED TODAY! New Magazine Rack added! Still haven't started on the catalog yet... New Pages - Hardy Bamboo Rod Serial Number Table! Reed Curry's excellent article on reconditioning your silk fly line.

3/8/00 New Products! - I'll be adding a line of premium quality rod wrapping silk thread and I also now carry the Gudebrod line. I'm also planning to carry some of the Pearsall rod and fly tying silk thread. I intend to add the REC ferrules and products and I will soon be selling the Struble reel seats and rod making products. Also will be adding the Flex Coat products.

2/1/00 New Fishing Website, vFish.Net -  my new  website which is named the "virtual Fishing Network" and the URL will be www.vFish.Net. I haven't activated it yet, I'm still dragging my heels in deciding which host provider to select... Sooo many to choose from. No launch date yet. At least several weeks away. I'm hoping to develop a more general site and yet be able to retain my special interests of vintage bamboo fly rods. I hope to add other fishing specialties in the future.
